Richie Righteous is unapologetic in his new, radio-friendly album, R.I.C.H. (Resting In Christ’s Hands). This project comes with quite a bit of publicity given Richie’s self-challenge to drop 50,000 albums in the first week, but for now, let’s just take a look at R.I.C.H., the album.

Let me go ahead and say that even though I ultimately enjoyed this album, I’m over this auto-tune madness. Maybe I’m the only one, but I just had to get that out there since a good portion of the album is like this. Once you get past the auto-tune, R.I.C.H. proves itself to be quite musically creative. Strong lyrical content, and quality production push this album to the forefront. Most important, however, is Richie’s clear devotion to ministry. Every track is a message to the listener.

The general tone of R.I.C.H. is a balancing act between somewhat political, message-minded lyrics and a very commercial sound. I believe this project actually pulls off this challenge with songs like “Do Wut It Do” and “Can’t Take It With You”. Lyrically, the project is sincere and thought-provoking at every turn. All in all, R.I.C.H. is definitely worth purchasing. Is it worth purchasing 50,000 times? Well, that’s up to you now, isn’t it?
