Life takes many twists and turns in our lives. I often wonder how I would handle certain situations that come my way. Why do I let certain things make me worry?  Why don’t I respond in faith in just stand when things are at its worse?

Recently, my car engine blew up: I received a letter from the IRS that said I owe $5,000, My Regional supervisor came to my job and wrote me up and threatened my livelihood, My phone company said I owed $4,000 dollars because of international calls, and I was wrongly charged on my debit card several times which made me short on my monthly bills adding to the tremendous debt that I had suddenly fallen in.  These things all came in the matter of days which are kind of overwhelming when you have a wife and 3 kids to support.  I start to have anxiety within myself.  My job started to threaten me over and over again about my transportation because of my position. I started picturing my family on the streets, and doubt was running rapid through my mind.  Lord what did I do to deserve this? Why is this happening to me?  I was falling apart, I was drowning in worry.  The peace of God suddenly came upon me and I couldn’t help but hear Matthew 6 crying out of my spirit.

25“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

28“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32For the pagans run after all these things and your heavenly Father know that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well.

I realized that I had taken my focus off of Jesus; He is my help and he has the final say in my life.  Two sparrows in that day were worth less than a penny and the Lord fed them. He took so much time to dress the lilies in perfection when he knew they would wither as soon as they grow. If he do this for flowers and birds, how much more valuable are his children. The Lord will allow trials in our lives to shape and mold us and build our character.  I encourage the reader to stand firm in your faith trust the Lord.
