Freedom Music Group Releases Debut Mixtape: Independence Day Vol. 1

Atlanta, GA – Freedom Music Group (FMG) releases anticipated debut mixtape, Independence Day, Friday May 14, 2010. Aiming to approach hip hop music differently than typical positive artists, FMG is on a mission to create face-crunching unskippable music that sets people free. The mixtape features executive production from Sean Grant (Recording Artist and Field Trackstarz Radio Personality) and Chris Dawson (Artist “Jeremaya” and CEO of FMG). Four tracks on the mixtape were recorded at Rich Productions, an Atlanta-based studio that has housed several national recording artists.

The FMG record label formed in early 2009. Since then, the label has become home to 6 artists: Sean Grant, Jeremaya, Sincere, Miles Austin, Lauren Amadi and Allei. The artists collectively cover areas of rap, singing, spoken word, and songwriting. All 6 artists are members of Destinations, the Atlanta hip hop and spoken word show that’s been taking place since 2001. The Independence Day mixtape project has been in the works since late 2008. “The heartbeat of this label is setting people free through quality music” says artist Jeremaya. The team of FMG artists came together for both their similar aspirations and their individual styles.

The Independence Day mixtape has 6 original songs featuring notable tracks “Not My Type”, “Leave Them Boys Alone” and “Sorry”, which are being played by Atlanta DJs. The other tracks contain original lyrics done over familiar industry beats. Musical influences for the mixtape include Lecrae, Andre 3000, Corey Red, Trip Lee, and the late Notorious B.I.G.

This summer, Freedom Music Group will release a follow-up to the Independence Day mixtape on July 4, 2010. The release will be an EP with the original tracks from the mixtape and will feature new original bonus tracks. Other albums slated for release this year from FMG are the debut album from Jeremaya entitled The Principle (Summer 2010) and Misfits & Bangers (Fall 2010), an FMG compilation album.
