Artist Devo: Confidence In Knowing (2Edge)

Published on September 3, 2010

Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinion?  If the Lord is God, follow Him, but if Baal is God, follow him.  Then you call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord.  The god who answers by fire, He is God.  (1st Kings 18:21, 24)  Read 1st King 18:1-40

This is a story of true confidence in knowing who God is and having a personal relationship with Him.  Often as a Christian, we are faced with obstacles that hinder our walk with Christ.  Sometimes it can be our jobs, school, a neighbor or maybe even a family member that causes us not to reach our full potential in God.  Elijah believed God would use him to change the lives of the people around him including the ones in authority.  The King at the time, Ahab, brought 850 prophets along to defend the worshipping of idol gods.

Many times in many situations, the things that God would want you to do may seem crazy and not well thought out.  But of course we know our ways are definitely not God’s ways.  God will always provide a way for us to represent His word but the question is will we follow through with His request?  What if like Elijah, you’re the only one that is still standing?  This will happen to you in school, at work or maybe even at home.  It is up to you to choose who to follow, God or man?
