Yaves the Street Pastor works with Dr.Cornel West

Yaves continues to reach outside the bounds of the music arena, deeply rooted in the advancement of the social fabric and quality of life for all people, Yaves work landed him in the presence of American Philosopher and political activist Dr. Cornel West.  Dr. West is one of America’s most provocative public intellectuals; Cornel West has been a champion for racial justice since childhood. His writing, speaking, and teaching weave together the traditions of the black Baptist Church, progressive politics, and jazz. The New York Timeshas praised his “ferocious moral vision.”

Yaves had the opportunity to host and address a crowd of over 1200 people during the Dr. Martin Luther King Celebration Kick-Off in Columbus, OH that took place this past week. Dr Cornel West was the keynote speaker during this event and the Princeton University professor spoke on themes of Faith, Family, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s legacy. The event which was sponsored by Radio One Columbus and The Ohio State University is said to be the most successful one to date in its 39 years of existence.

Dr. West revered Yaves as one of the young brilliant minds that has merged the teachings of the biblical faith with a compassion for his community and humanity. It is clear that music is just a gateway used to make a bigger impact on the lives that he comes in contact with. It’s safe to say that the two artist may even collaborate on music in the near future.
