Singer/Rapper Billy “Church Boy” Powell – “The Long Road Back To God”

NOTED SINGER/RAPPER BILLY “CHURCH BOY” POWELL RELEASES NEW CD THE LONG ROAD BACK TO GOD

Hartford, CT — Connecticut’s Billy “Church Boy” Powell is the noted Gospel singer and rap artist who is emerging from a rich musical legacy. The Powell legacy includes his father – pastor and instrumentalist extraordinaire Hubert Powell; his uncle – inimitable vocalist Ivan Powell; and his brother Doobie Powell – the singer songwriter dubbed ‘The Musician’s Musician”. Billy is now taking his family legacy and Gospel music one step further with his unique urban style. His music is a smooth artistic expression of skillfully produced vocals and stimulating rap lyrics wrapped in ingeniously grooving music.

The Long Road Back To God is Billy’s latest CD offering. The project is a brilliant mix of Contemporary Gospel, Gospel Rap, and Contemporary Christian music and is being hailed as his most noted work, showcasing his undeniable songwriting skills and distinctive musicianship.

The Long Road Back To God is a collection of songs to uplift your spirit, encourage you to represent Christ in all that you do, but will also make you bob your head to the beat and have you singing along to the infectious melodious hooks. The project boasts guest appearances from H. Doobie Powell on the ballad “What I’m Made For” and a live excerpt of a sermon by Billy’s father on the club banging dance track “Bartimaeus”. “Many Will Turn” is Billy’s 80’s throwback groove that carries a direct message that now is not the time to be like the world, get back to our only source and we will win!

Billy works in ministry with his parents at Latter Rain Christian Fellowship in Hartford, CT where in January of 2010 he was called to preach. He continues to unite in music with his two brothers, Kevin Powell and H. Doobie Powell, who also have released several projects that feature his vocal and drumming talent.

Billy has also appeared on both his father’s Stellar Award nominated projects Thank You For Your Touch and Keep Pressin’ On and he is recognized as a National Musician on the Musical Staff of the Church of God In Christ.
The Long Road Back to God is available now at iTunes and all digital music retailers.
