Spoken releases “Bright Days, Dark Nights” Cover Art, Track List & Concept

SPOKEN-COVER3bChristian Hip-Hop artists Spoken drops “BRIGHT DAYS, DARK NIGHTS” on April 26th 2011.  Peep the track list and the concept inspiring each track.

1. Intro; 2. Born of the Light ft. Alain Morales of SACRED, a Celebration of Salvation. To be born of the Light is the greatest honour in life; 3. Gotta Be More ft. CiCi Moya, as life continually cycles through pain and pleasure, it is easy especially during the dark nights to ask the question, “Somebody tell me that there’s gotta be more.” This song specifically dedicated to women, centres on this question. It explores some of the fear and insecurities ladies often face, and ultimately provides the answer, “Yes! There is more. Way more in Jesus Christ;” 4. STAND! ft. Marley Edwards, another song of exhortation telling all to STAND! on the solid rock of Christ through life’s storms; 5. Home (Interlude); 6. Home, the prodigal son returns home after wandering the world and looking for satisfaction in everything other than in His Father’s house; 7. Get Over It, going back home, has cost the EX-Prodigal his circle of friends. However, he unapologetically tells them to “Get Over It” and invites them to “Come get a hold of this;” 8. Night Falls (Interlude);  9. She, haunted by past sins and addictions, this is a brutally honest and heart-wrenching plea to the Father to come and rescue one from the demons in one’s past….and one’s mind;  10. Live It Up, it’s a sad truth that most of society’s modern day heroes and heroines are less than upstanding characters. Musicians, Actors, and public figures often boast about their affluence, while simultaneously promoting godless and destructive behaviours such as; alcoholism, promiscuity, reckless abandon etc. Although these individuals portray an impermeable exterior, the truth is, their actions are indications of deep rooted insecurities. This song speaks from the perspective of one of such figures; 11. Role Model (Part 2) ft. DinahSty, an urgent cry for Role Models. Millions of children worldwide find themselves without solid role models, as all they see are the drug dealers, gangsters, strippers, prostitutes, rappers etc, all selling a false illusion. Here, DinahSty and Spoken challenge these false idols to seek redemption in Jesus, and take responsibility of setting a positive example for the young. It also challenges the regular parents to be extra-intentional in setting good examples, so that their children aren’t deceived by competing images in media; 12. Hold Me (Suicide), on September 24, 2010, a six-alarm fire gutted several floors of an apartment building in a Toronto neighbourhood, leaving many tenants homeless for a number of weeks. This song was written in response to the obvious cry and questions the tenants likely had, regarding God’s grace and sovereignty; 13. Bring It All, a bold proclamation, boasting a Christ-centred confidence regardless of what life throws at one. Bring the pain, bring the joy, bring the storm, and bring it all. This confidence is rooted in an understanding that God “…work all things (good and bad) together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28); 14. Outro.
