This comes off the heels of PK celebrating the success of producing and co-writing on the Grammy nominated album Rehab by Lecrae. The group receives credit for three songs on the album, which soared to the top of various Billboard charts including the Top 200. “We produced music for Lecrae’s album which in turn created a great awareness for PK music,” says the group collectively.
My Young Adult Brain is a free mixtape that is offered on PK’s website for download. It is a collection of songs that depicts the everyday life and struggle of young adults. Its approach is unique as it ministers to all walks of life and fans of every genre of music. PK’s debut album Remix The World uses real life situations experienced by the PK group members as testimonies. All songs are written and produced by PK.
PK members Ace, Motown and Finance strive to create sounds that reflect them as individuals, yet collectively portray their love for God. Keeping residence in both Atlanta and Los Angeles allows their music to stay progressive and the myriad of influences keep their creative juices fresh. “When we are in the process of creating, the first thing we do is mentally prepare. We talk, relax, listen to music, discuss what’s going on in our lives, and the world. That sets us in a zone that brings our music to life,” shares Finance.
PK creates music that crosses many genres as it mixes pop, rock, hip-hop, and soul. With lyrical content based on their personal experiences as well as others close to them; PK addresses current events and life issues. “Urban Christianity” is the term the group uses to define its blend of lifestyle, religion, and music. With faith as their guide, PK mixes God’s word and today’s sound to impact pop culture.
ABOUT PK
PK (Preacher Kids) is an urban inspirational band based out of Atlanta and Los Angeles. The trio consists of ACE, MOTOWN and FINANCE. The group originally met as freshmen in college at Georgia State University. As a result, they started a bible study at their dormitory that would be attended by students on campus. While in college, Ace and Motown got their first experience in the music industry, through interning for an Atlanta based record label. Finance, still focused on his path of marketing and advertising, interned for a public relations firm. The intern experience not only sparked an interest for these gentlemen, but also helped them realize a passion that would manifest at a later time. Becoming a trio, the group’s focus was to create something that reflected them individually as people, yet collectively portray their love for God.
