The concept behind the single Lt. Dan came from inspiration from the movie “Forrest Gump”. While watching the movie God began ministering to me through the character played by Gary Sineese, ” Lt. Dan Taylor”. God showed me through the character of Lt. Dan how we struggle with the many burdens of life such as generational curses, identity crises, and our desperate need for salvation. Lt. Dan is a perfect example of God’s restoring power. He goes from being an angry lost man to becoming crippled and broken. But as we see in the movie, it is in his brokeness that he makes his peace with God. The last image we see of Lt. Dan in the movie is one of a restored man with a new countenance about him. And that’s what this song is all about, how God met me in my mess and restored me. So like the hook says, “I’m on mt Lt. Dan!!!!!!”
Malakai Tha Truth is a minister of the Gospel from Harlem NY. He is known for his Incredible energy and passionate delivery as well as lyrical ability. He has garnered much acclaim over the last couple of years in the NY area accentuated by his teaming up with the Right Side Up Entertainment Label, as well as receiving the 2010 Kingdom Choice award for best Lyricist/Freestyle. This September will deliver his official introduction to the CHH arena with his aptly titled debut mix-tape “Welcome to Tha Truth.”
