Serious Voice Goes to Staten Island Gospel Fest

SERIOUS_PICBROOKYN, NY — Brooklyn Rapper Serious AKA the Serious Voice of New York is heading to the Staten Island Gospel Fest in New York this week.  “I don’t think Christian artists should compete as we are all about glorifying Christ, however this kind of platform is great because folks who haven’t been exposed to ministry in music can get a chance to hear what you have to say,” said Serious.

Serious has been climbing up the visibility charts with her song “Live,” which features Mr. C. Her video has been featured on major holy hip hop sites such as DaSouth.com, Holyculture.net and z180radio.com, to name a few. Currently you can download “Live” for free and watch the complementing video on http://www.http://http://www.holyculture.net by clicking on this link: http://http://www.http://http://www.holyculture.net/blog/2011/10/11/video-serious-2/

Ten years ago, Serious wanted to give up on rapping for Christ as many people around her often said it’ wouldn’t work out. But a watershed day came when she flew to Johannesburg, South Africa to minister with her church at the time. She was at an evening evangelical meeting, sitting in the stadium chairs, waiting for others to minister in song when a reverend called her out and said “you’re going to get on stage and sing and rap for Christ.” In obedience, Serious immediately prayed, asking God to anoint her to minister to the young people in attendance. God used her mightily on that day. Wheel- chair-bound individuals were “popping their chairs” and others were set free to praise God.

Serious has several songs on ITunes including the “Yes” song, which was performed in Africa, also Dat Doctor and Live, and in the coming weeks will release a mixtape called “Are You Serious.” Serious also has a hot new collaboration with International Gospel Reggae artist Marshall One dubbed “Light it up,” which is currently being played in the US, Canada and Jamaica, West Indies.

Come Saturday October 22 at 4pm she plans to allow God to use her to minister to the folks in attendance at the Staten Island Gospel Fest.
