Album Review: Roberto & Danny – “Sermons on Beats”

Sermons on Beats initial impression on me had me thinking of actual sermon preaching with music in the background. What I found instead was a west-coast flavored production coated with an edifying message closely similar to the message that you would hear in a sermon. Needless to say the album is a decent release that is not too far away from what you would hear in a commercial track. It has its ups and downs and could be considered by many as your “average” album. Roberto & Danny didn’t pull any punches with this release though despite what could be considered “average”. The duo left no table unturned with an uplifting style of encouragement and conviction.

The songs that stuck out the most were: “Where you Gonna Be”, “SML”, “Bear Fruit” and “Not Yet”. “Not Yet” was my personal favorite on the album and if I had to pick just one song, this would be it. “Not Yet” brings a message of the average Christian not being where God wants them to be, and seeking for his help to get over the barriers of life.
Does it top other albums? Sure, it tops a few, and many I’ve heard. Is it the best? Perhaps not. There is one thing you can be assured of, and that is that it is a decent mix, has decent melodies, decent flow, and over-all a decent release all together that can be enjoyed.
