From Sydney, Australia, D.I.S.C.I.P.L.E. was born again in 2005, and shortly after began writing and collaborating with other artists.  Starting with the spoken word form of poetry, D.I.S.C.I.P.L.E. began to venture into music performing in various locations Down Under.

D.I.S.C.I.P.L.E.’s In Their Shoes is an attempt to use Biblical events as a guide to understanding and living through today’s struggles.  Songs referencing issues dealt with by Moses, the Prodigal Son, and even Christ Himself are explicitly cited over a backdrop of singsong melodies.

“Let My People Go” commands the ‘pharoah-tic” world system to release its hold on its inhabitants over a snare driven dance track. “Children of Yesterday” seems to emphasize the differences between those living wasted, unfocused lives with those living respectful, spiritually centered lives.  “Gethsemane” is a prayer emulating Christ’s prayer prior to the cross.  In it, D.I.S.C.I.P.L.E. asks for strength during vulnerable, miserable times. The remaining tracks, “Prodigal Son” and “Dry Bones” refer to exactly what their name states.

Though Biblically themed and referencing specific Bible stories, “In Their Shoes – EP v2.0” misses the mark from an artistically, creative point of view.  Lyrically, the album is very elementary – no vocal acrobatics, no clever wordplay, nothing other than the fact that every last word of each bar rhymes with the last word of the previous bar.  The album was very predictable – upon reading the song titles you knew not only what the song was about, but exactly which clichés were going to be used during the verses.  Very repetitive, nothing stood out to capture my attention, or fueling the desire to want to hear more.
