”LOVE” to me that is an action word not just a word found in the dictionary. Lately my heart has been burdened with the lack of love the church shows not only to unbelievers but to believers as well.  To be honest with you, I’m seeing more of our own brothers and sisters in Christ not loving, not respecting one another’s gifts or talents, not communicating, being selfish by keeping information from others because they feel that they may surpass them and possibly get more out of the same info they’ve collected. But you know what? ”WHAT GOD HAS FOR YOU IS FOR YOU”. PRIDE, GREED, ENVY, JEALOUSY, HATRED, BITTERNESS, within one’s heart can really wreak havoc on one’s walk with Christ and create a hardened heart if not detected and handled correctly in its early stages.

Love – is an emotion of a strong affection and personal attachment. [1] Love is also a virtue representing all of human kindness, compassion, and affection —”the unselfish loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another.

Agápe (ἀγάπη agápē[1]) means “love” (unconditional love) in modern day Greek, such as in the term s’agapo (Σ’αγαπώ), which means “I love you”. In Ancient Greek, it often refers to a general affection or deeper sense of “true love” rather than the attraction suggested by “eros”.

Philia (φιλία philía[3]) means friendship or affectionate love in modern Greek. It includes loyalty to friends, family, and community, and requires virtue, equality and familiarity. In ancient texts, philos denoted a general type of love, used for love between family, between friends, a desire or enjoyment of an activity, as well as between lovers.

Let’s be real, EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE LOVED, acknowledged, respected, accepted, and liked by everybody. So we say we Love God and that may be true but really how deep is your love for God’s people? You can’t say you Love God and not love his children (Ephesians 5:1-2) or not show any type of love to those who have yet to become one of his children. HE IS LOVE if He’s living on the inside of you then you acquire that very same trait…LOVE. I’ve noticed in the body that we TOLERATE EACH OTHER MORE THAN WE LOVE EACH OTHER. Saying, “Hey, what’s up?” is a type of respect, somewhat showing love, but love is deeper than that. If you truly love the person like you say you do then you would ask, “How is your walk with the Lord? What are some things I can pray with or for you about? Are you struggling with some things? What do you need help with? How is the family?” LOVE TRULY SURPASSES THE TALENT AND GIFTS you see within the individual and it’s more on a personal level and not a “What can I get out of this for me?” or “How can I have certain credits adapted and applied to my platform to grow my ministry?” As my dear friend J’Son said it best, “This is life on life.”

So I would like to elaborate some Theology on Love and this is just part one of many to come because it is a subject that you can’t just sum all up in one part. I feel so strongly about this subject because I myself have been hurt, stabbed in the back, not loved on as I ought to be from other brothers and sisters in Christ. And with that type of experience, I understand why some of the people that were in the church left, or not really make a great and positive impact on an unbeliever to where it could be life changing for him or her.

My prayer is that we as Christians show more of an Agape love; the same unconditional love Christ showed us by dying on the cross for our iniquities. In the end, the only thing that matters is love. It has been and always will be the deciding factor in everything you do.
