[free.] Skrip – ‘Say’ ft. Andy Mineo

Published on January 5, 2013

Many are desensitized to the power of words due to glorification in rap, of all things negative equating to a positive outcome. Chicago emcee/producer Skrip, seeks to push the message that words have power in both the negative and positive, to build up or tear down.”Say” is an inspiring song about standing out for what you believe as truth while being vocal in the midst of chaos. Along for the ride from Washington Heights is Reach Records (Lecrae, Trip Lee, etc.) artist Andy Mineo. Skrip’s upcoming free album ‘The Und_rscore II’ releases on January 15th on Infiltrate Music.

BIO:
At the age of twelve, the young Chicago native Skrip sequenced his first hip-hop instrumental track using the 12 string guitar as a main melody. From that time to 2010, Skrip built up a resume that included opening for several well known artists as a rapper. Skrip honed his skills as a beat boxer, producer, had his fare share of emcee battles, and spent time as a full time b-boy. In 2007 Skrip produced two instrumentals (“Enemy Crush” and “One Winged Angel”) based off of music from the classic video game Final Fantasy VIII that were embraced by both the b-boy community and the parkour community respectively. “Enemy Crush” was featured on the Battle of the Year 2007 Soundtrack, used by Switzerland b-boy crew Ghost Rockz, as well as the Gamblerz Crew’s showcase at the 2008 R16 Korea Sparkling World BBoy Championship. In total, the two instrumentals “Enemy Crush” and “One Winged Angel” have been used in countless YouTube videos accounting for over 50 million views, with 13 million coming from world famous parkour and stunt man Damien Walters’ 2009 showreel.

Skrip offered his free album ‘The Und_rscore’ and his debut album ‘Becoming All Things’ in 2011 and was received by the hip hop community with open arms. His albums have displayed his roots reminiscent of golden era boom bap, pop, with catchy hooks, vivid story telling, and melodies. Skrip showed that as a song writer and producer he cannot be boxed in stylistically as a boom bap producer. When St. Louis giant and gutter rap perfectionist, Thi’sl introduced his 2011 album ‘Beautiful Monster,’ you immediately saw that Thi’sl had grown musically. That growth can partially be attributed to Skrip’s songwriting, production, and singing on the title track “Beautiful Monster” which also features Swoope, along with two other tracks on the album. Skrip also contributed the theme music to Reach Records artist Andy Mineo’s ‘Saturday Morning Car Tunez’ series, as well as two songs “Hello World” and “Listen” from Andy’s free album ‘Formerly Known,’ which has seen over 100,000 downloads.
