[news.] Tre9’s “Fatherless” video gets personal

Includes footage from the birth of his first biological child and his wife acting out her dramatic pre-salvation street life

Hip hop doesn’t get much more personal than this. In the video for the song“Fatherless” (dropping online Tuesday, February 12), urban missionary Tre9 includes footage from the birth of his first biological child and scenes of his wife acting out her dramatic pre-salvation street life.

“The mantra of many a rapper is ‘Keep it real’ and that’s what I’m doing here,” Tre9 said. “With this visual of the song I wanted to show an authentic picture of what it means to be a father.”

“In my wife’s storyline, viewers will see the negative life choices she made after being rejected by her dad. And in the hospital footage, they can celebrate with me as I witness the birth of my first biological child.”

The song also features Govenor Reiss’ unique blend of singing and rapping as he narrates his own history of growing up without a positive male role model.

The track will be featured on Tre9’s upcoming Missionary Minded album that will be released on March 26, 2013 from Rapture Recordz – a Houston-based mainstream hip hop label.

Music videos from the album will be accompanied by a “Ministry Before the Music” teaching video where Tre9 and others discuss the storyline of the song or the topics addressed within it. These short sessions are ideal for small group discipleship settings or for parents and mentors who want to use the music as a launching point for a serious discussion about life’s challenges and ultimate solutions. This box set of videos will be released in the summer 2013.
