CHARLOTTE, NC… March 11, 2015… S.L.A.P. Battles (Showing Love Applying Pressure) – the first ever all-concept rap battle league – presents their newest rap battle: “Poor in Spirit vs. Rich with Dollars.”

“Poor in Spirit vs. Rich with Dollars” featured two members of the JustHis League as B. Meads, in the role of “Poor in Spirit,” faced off with Judah the Rapper, in the role of “Rich with Dollars”. This battle portrayed the chronic issues of financial pressure faced by so many in America today in an over-commercialized society. Punch lines and creative concepts were in abundance in this clash, as both MCs came with top level material while still managing to drive the message home.

Judah the Rapper summed it up best: “The battle was epic, but I’m more grateful about the people we got to pray for, and that the message was made clear.”

“It was awesome to take part in something that not just makes the audience listen, and react… But also think… This is a presentation of a genuine battle between a good and evil spirits… Excited for where S.L.A.P. is headed.” said B. Meads.

The next S.L.A.P. Battles event, “Bars On Deck”, is going down Saturday, March 21 in Charlotte, NC. It will be held at 7910 Idlewild Road, Charlotte, NC. Doors Open at 6:00pm, Event Starts at 7:00pm.
This event is an urban ministry outreach which uses the language of hip-hop battles to present issues that youth/young adults deal with in a relevant manner, providing the solution in the virtues of Christ. This is battle rap like you’ve never seen, as emcees step into the ring to tackle the issues that wrestle in hearts of men. This will be an epic night of power packed punch lines and wordplay that points back to the Word. Going head to head on this card will be Pride vs. Humility, High on Drugs vs. High in the Spirit, Drunkenness vs. Self-Control, and Success vs. Fear.

In addition to the “Bars On Deck” event and new release, S.L.A.P. Battles Pittsburgh recently hosted their first event, “The Danger Room”, which was a tryout event for MCs that are new to the S.L.A.P. format. Two new releases from this event are coming soon on the S.L.A.P. Battles YouTube Channel:

About S.L.A.P. Battles:

The concept for S.L.A.P., which stands for “Showing Love, Applying Pressure,” was the brain child of Everette “Pop” Moore of the JustHis League. As opposed to the traditional rap battle, which pits two opponents against each other in a verbal boxing match to prove who the superior MC is, S.L.A.P. requires that MCs adopt a character that represents either a vice or a virtue. Then, in a lyrical clash of punch lines, metaphors, bars, and hard hitting a-capella rap, S.L.A.P. brings the same intense entertainment value of battle rap that fans love. In addition, S.L.A.P. presents truth and life lessons through the themes of the battles.

“S.L.A.P. Battles is a powerful platform, not only are you getting crazy dope lyrics, but bringing perspectives on topics that otherwise may never be seen. S.L.A.P. is giving voice to topics that people think on and may be afraid to speak about. S.L.A.P. tackles those issues with creativity and purpose.” – Phresh, President of the JustHis League and Hip-Hop Artist
