Self Promotion…
I stumbled upon this link while looking up passages in scripture that have to do with self promotion… it blessed me… Maybe some of you artists might be blessed by it as well.
Sometimes its easy to loose focus on who should really get our promotion…. I know I’ve fallen victim to this frequently over the past couple of years. Pride is a beast, and it has a tight grip on both the unknown MCs of Christian Hip Hop all the way to the most talked about in Christian Hip Hop. trust. Pride (Self Promotion) is soo sneaky… most of us are oblivious to it until/unless someone holds up a mirror to us.

Ahhh… I’m torn. But not really. Ok, I’m not going to beat around the bush (surprising?).

1. It would be smarter for me to remain silent to the things I see, and hear, that go on in Christian Hip Hop. Why you might ask? Well, If I keep my mouth shut to some of the things I see, then I don’t make any waves… then my website’s reputation isn’t looked at as “controversial”. If I keep my mouth shut then everyone is happy! If I keep my mouth shut then everyone thinks that I’m “ok” with what they are doing. As long as people “think” I’m indifferent about the things I hear and see… then everything is gravy. No one’s feelings get hurt, nobody closes any doors on me (including financial). I’m the guy who just “stays out of it”. Its safe. Its a good place to be if you are one of those who constantly worries about what both signed and unsigned, both big and small names, both popular and unpopular think of you, and your brand name. It amazes me how taking a chance and reaching out to kats you might not necessarily know or have a connection to, can turn out to produce some dope fellowship, AND new opportunities! Today I was sitting here @ work thinking about definitions. There are many places where definitions come from. Most of the definitions we associate with words today come from the dictionary (Websters, etc.). Some we make up ourselves. Other definitions have actually nothing to do with word itself, but the images and feelings one associates with that word.
