Rest in Peace Michael Jackson: Where is the Love?

Hey family it’s been a minute but I wanted to make sure I wasn’t just writing a blog just to write. I know that we are all aware of the recent death of Michael Jackson as are millions of others around the world. Michael Joseph Jackson, The king of pop, MJ was a true talent who danced and sang his way into the hearts of people around the world. I remember being 9 years old when I received my first Jackson 5 album “Never Can Say Goodbye.” I memorized the entire album in two days and sang and danced to the lyrics every day in my mirror. A record that was released 29 years prior to my birth was a master piece in my mind. This shows the timelessness of Michael Jackson’s music. Christian artist or not we have to admit that Michael Jackson has had an effect on us musically, in fashion, and dance. What other artist has had four different generations grow up on their musically? I have been on tour and could not figure out what I really wanted write about in this blog, but over the last week and a half it became extremely clear to me what it was that I should write about. Love. As the death of Michael Jackson hit televisions and newsstands across the globe I sat back in amazement at how many Christians tried to lessen the death of Michael Jackson. As if he had no impact on this world at all. Highlighting the negatives things instead of uplifting the good of this man. In March of 1986 7 million people united as Michael Jackson lead hands across America to donate money to local charities to fight hunger and homelessness and help those in poverty. It seems hypocritical how Christians can talk about this man but can barely stand to be in the house of God together with their brothers and sisters in Christ. I watched many Christians question if Michael Jackson was saved or not but my question to you is, are you sure that you know Jesus? because if you were you would obey His commandments. Matthew 7:5 says “first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” It seems as though sometimes we get so “saved” and forget the very place God snatched us out of. John 3:17 says “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” At times it seems Christians have become so “knowledgeable” about the scriptures that they forget the grace and love pieces to the Christian faith. Forgetting that they once were sinners. Now in no way am I trying to glorify or exalt Michael Jackson in place of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. What I am saying is “For by the grace given to me I warn everyone among you not to estimate and think of himself more highly than he ought but to rate his ability with sober judgment, each according to the degree of faith apportioned by God to him.”

They will know that we are Christians by our love.
