The UK is in the building!  OK, I have to admit.  It took me a second to adjust to the musical style.  This is no knock on the lyricism or the content, but the music is just a tad bit different for the first part of the album.  I have to be honest.  I didn’t know how to take the album at first.  It was obvious that it wasn’t something from the states.  The production was similar to what I’m used to, but not quite up to par, at first.  I’m excluding the first track, Sound of My Soul, from that statement because it sounds great.  The sample is smooth and the flow is pretty steady.  “Bring it to ‘em” is another solid song, but like I said earlier, it’s missing something as a whole.

That awkward feeling left once I got to #3, “My Life.”  I really enjoyed it and it is definitely one of my favorite songs from this project.  The track is a breath of fresh air.  The content on this album is great from start to finish.  E-Tizz brings the message and makes it clear throughout the entire CD.  It does sound like E-Tizz struggled a little bit with the fast tempo on #4, but he makes it through unscathed for the most part.  It’s just pretty obvious that he’s out of his element.

Most of the album is pretty laid back actually and this is definitely his strength.  But the album shows a little diversity and almost changes totally towards the end.  Once he hits #11 with another Jimmy James track, the production seems to switch up and is infused with another level of energy and E-Tizz doesn’t miss a beat.  The first verse is cool, but once the 2nd verse hits, you can tell he got in the groove of the song.  E-Tizz made me rewind on this one (that’s a compliment)!  If he gets up on #11, he jumps out the box with #12.  I wasn’t ready for the energy level, because almost everything else is laid back for the most part.  But I definitely liked it.

One thing I notice about E-Tizz, is that his voice hardly ever changes.  He’s not speaking in monotone or anything like that, but it seems like he never raises his voice.  It’s like he raps the same way on a slow track or a fast track.  Ironically, it works.  I never felt like the track overshadowed him.  Wait, I stand corrected.  He raises his voice a little bit on #6 “Stand Up.”  This is one of E-Tizz’s closest swings at a dance track.  The song itself is OK, but there’s just something about hearing him rhyme to this song that just doesn’t fit to me.  But hey, when you’re dancing this type of scrutiny doesn’t exist.  Moving on…

This album isn’t diverse enough to be called eclectic, but it’s definitely different enough to tickle your ears with numerous styles, tempos, and rhythms.  His flow is consistent and his content is strong.  This CD is pretty well-rounded, but definitely leans to a relatively calm sort of flow.  I enjoyed it, but I wasn’t blown away.  E-Tizz is definitely gifted and I look forward to more albums from him in the future.  But, everybody’s a critic.  I’m just the one who wrote the review.  Peace and much love…
