2010 YGEA Awards Recap

The 4th Annual YGEA Awards took place on Saturday, September 25 at Morehouse College.  The YGEA Awards staff would like to thank everyone who came out and supported the event. “We were up against many odds but in the end, it was an’ okay’ show states Executive Producer, Silveree Benson.
We would like to also remind the people who attended this event that because of the newly introduced categories and the magnitude of high profile people who attended the event, we admit we could have done an even better job. With that said, our commitment to you is that we will strive to do an even better job next year and continue to consult with industry professionals to help build the YGEA Award brand and take it to even bigger heights.

The performers for this year were: Cristyle, Gloss da Boss, Tavaria, June Fifth, Muffy ft Cartier, Ebony Love, William Myles & YPOP, W.H.A.T.T., Righetous Noize, ATL Bomb Squad, Yung Tone, Ray Rush, Maxine Hopkins, Blue Dynasty Step Team, and Comedian Small Fire.  The hosts for the night were Kash Howard and Hustle Simmons along with announcer DJ Dex.

The winners for the major categories presented were:  DJ Trauma, Mainstream Mixtape DJ; Drumma Boy, Mainstream Producer; Cristyle, Songwriter of the Year; Hip Hop Blog, Urban Blog Site; Raheim Shabazz, Video Director; Hip Hop Weekly, Urban Magazine; Danielle Canada, Hip Hop Writer; Prince Williams, Event Photographer; Kim Maxwell, Fashion Stylist, Gospel DJ, DJ Cue; Independent Record Label, Psalms of Praise; Radio Show, Crunk 4 Christ Radio; Lyricist of the Year, Ric Flo; and Nicole Garner, Go Getta of the Year.  For a list of other category winners, access the website at http://www.YGEA.net.

The 2010 YGEA Award Honorees were:  Debra Antney, Mizay Entertainment who was presented with a Visionary Award, Greg Street was presented with a Community Involvement Award, Shanti Das with an Executive Achievement Award, and Chaka Zulu with an Industry Achievement Award.  We would like to, again, congratulate all the winners and honorees.

The YGEA Awards goal is to provide a platform for independents to be recognized for their accomplishments and be awarded for them.  We highlight various people who are behind the scenes and play a significant role in the Entertainment Industry.  In addition, The YGEA Awards honors Community Leaders, Entrepreneurs, and Executives who make an impact in our communities.  We set out to promote positive and/or inspirational entertainment for our young people which is something we don’t want to lose sight of.
