There’s no need to wait on the Rapture when you’re Rapture Ready. Oliver Brock brings some easy-going music that is not that bad. I would consider the album as average or what I like to call a “Hit and Miss” project. In other words, I didn’t feel every song, but there were some good ones on it. The hooks were a little different than what I would usually hear in hip hop, but that’s what sets Oliver Brock different from everything else that you hear.
Songs that I enjoyed on the album were “I’ve Been Dead”, “My Lies Remix (Ft. Rexx Israel & DJ Corbett)”, “Things Done Changed Remix (Ft. Marty)”, “You Don’t Understand”, and “When You Come Home”.
When I heard “When You Come Home” I had a totally different feeling about this album. When I first listened to the album I had gotten a bad taste in my mouth from some of the songs, but as soon as I heard “When You Come Home” I decided to go back and listen to it a few times through and realized that I liked more songs than I initially thought.
Now normally I hear remixes from artists, and nearly always enjoy the originals more than I do the remixes, but not for Oliver Brock’s album. When I heard the remixes I enjoyed them FAR more than the original mixes. Oliver Brock is definitely one to keep an eye on, and he definitely has potential to grow in many areas.
Don’t sleep on Oliver Brock, but rather take a listen and support him, and most of all don’t be “Prepared for the Rapture, but be Rapture Ready.”
