As I started listening to The Higher Project 4, I was so geeked after hearing the title track/intro. The intro made me think that the album was going to be very epic. I was ready to get blown away after hearing the beat on Reign but his flow made me think twice. Wow! He sounded late on the drum taps.  So I listened to Reign a little more and I thought it could be saved by an R&B-ish hook but I was wrong. He just repeated “reign” over and over again. Disappointing!  I’m not going to lie, the beat selection on the majority of this project was good, as in; Team Yeshua & NoWhere, but there were some beats that sounded dated (i.e. Reflections (Letter To My Ex).  Also, he sings his rhymes on a lot of his songs. Not a good look!  I really think he should have employed more singers on his hook or other rappers like on NoWhere.  The unknown singer on NoWhere really saves the song.  There were some spots where his cadence seemed better as in Love EXIT and Trapped US but you might not get that far if you have a hard time with his flow. Another thing I didn’t like was the quality of the recordings. It sounded like a scratch demo record.  One thing I do know that Stan G. shows he loves the Christian life and  can tell a story like on Reflections (Letter To My Ex) and Trapped US.  I think he should take the time to find his flow, re-record this album at a better quality, and shave his track list down a bit. Don’t hate me!  I’m just trying to encourage you to stay focused and take your time on your recordings. “Work on each track like it’s your last & be relevant!” Rapper Thi’sl told me the same thing in 2005 but I didn’t listen. Listen & you will be great!
