In case you haven’t heard, Louis G hailing from Knoxville, he is an urban singer, songwriter, and recording artist. His latest release Light is his latest offering and far from perfect. But this 13 track album jarring collection of music makes it exciting. It has bangers like the anthem, No Limits, ridiculously catchy, I Got Jesus, the yuck-face certified, Takeover, and the John sounding, Association. The album starts with an a cappella song that sounds like rapper, Bizzle has really inspired his flow. The opener, We Da Light sounds like B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast) beat-maker Lex Luger handled the music production. He employs a lot of repeat rhymes on this track like rapper Japhia Life, but does put ‘em off like Lifey. Next up is a song called, I Got Jesus which is like I said, “ridiculously catchy!” This song is the answer back to Waka Flocka Flame’s 2009 drug dealing music anthem O Let’s Do It. You are going to be chanting this song everywhere after you hear it. He wraps up this song venting about some of his dirty deeds but he still doesn’t really open up. No Limits is a repeat worthy track, but I feel like Louis G should’ve rapped with a faster cadence on this one. However, he reminds you of rapper, Viktory on this track. He’s like a chameleon on some of these tracks. He sounds like he is still trying to find his sound which isn’t really a bad thing. The mainstream sounding New Swag is a track you could put on in a club. Ol Musik (Turn My Music Up) has an infectious beat, while Fall of Adam doesn’t. However, Fall of Adam has that knowledge and I really enjoyed the lyrics. Takeover would be a track I would really boast about on this album. The hook and beat is on point. The actual verses aren’t really hip hop quotable, like a lot of the verses on many of the songs. The album wraps up with the victorious sounding I Need Jesus feat Ashley Kariuki. It has radio appeal. Good job, Louis G. This album is 100% ride worthy. Louis G has flow but lacks uniqueness in vocals. I still see potential in this dude.
