Kadence Leaves Exodus Movement

MarcusLead producer and group member, Marcus “Kadence” Jackson, leaves Christian rap group, Exodus Movement, to focus more aggressively on community outreach.

Kadence, also known as “The Eastside Drumma,” ministered alongside and produced with Exodus Movement for 10 years. He released a solo project entitled “Going In” in 2010, and was nominated for a Dove Award in 2009 for producing “Go Hard” on the album Rebel, by Grammy Nominated Artist, Lecrae. Kadence has also produced for many more giants in the Christian music world including, Thi’sl, K-Drama, Cam, Fedel, and others. Although Kadence will continue on with producing and doing music independently, his primary focus will be on making a difference in the community he grew up in. He will finish out the current projects with Exodus Movement.

Group leader Hurtis “HD” Deveorux, of Exodus Movement states, “It’s sad to see our brother leave but it would be selfish of us to keep him from doing what God has placed on his heart to do. We are thankful for his loyalty and dedication to the ministry for 10 years. We look forward to Kadence’s continued success and wish him well in all his upcoming endeavors.”

Group members Isaac “Lapo” Onaolapo, Robbie “Apocalyptic” Carpenter, and Hurtis “HD” Deveroux, remain in the group and are scheduled to tour in March of next year through June. Exodus Movement is set to release their 8th album, “From the Depths” with Kadence this December 2011.

Kadence shares this announcement: “After 10 years of serving alongside my brothers in Exodus Movement, it’s time for me to move to the next chapter in my life and ministry. With Exodus’ blessing, I’m going to pursue community outreach and music independently. If it wasn’t for Exodus and the time they spent with me, I wouldn’t be where I am musically or spiritually. They took the time and disciple me as a teenager and I will be forever grateful. If it wasn’t for the time, effort, and consistency of my brothers, I wouldn’t have the discipline or direction. God has put a great burden in my heart to be a light in my community. As hard as it is to make a big decision like this, I am at peace with what the Lord has put in my heart to do. I am doing this with the support of my wife, pastor, and Exodus Movement. I will still be doing music, concerts, features, and production. So this will not be the last you hear of me.” For more information on Kadence’s work in Oklahoma City, Ok, please visit www.yfc.org and positivehiphop.tv.

We ask all of Exodus Movement supporters and fans to please keep our ministry lifted in prayer and for God’s covering over Kadence and his family as they move into a new season in their lives.
