for-king-and-country-into-the-silent-night-epWhen I think of alternative rock bands, one band comes to mind, For King & Country. Now you may be familiar with them or you may not, but these guys are definitely no strangers to the music scene. In 2012, their album Crave was named “Breakthrough Christian & Gospel Album of the Year. They also have made an appearance on “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno and just recently were named “New Artist of the Year” at the Dove Awards.

With 51 days till Christmas, For King & Country latest 5 track EP, Into The Silent Night, will definitely get you into the Christmas spirit. This EP may only have 5 tracks, but its full of so many great songs. Each track showed Joel and Luke Smallbone’s (For King & Country members) songwriting abilities, vocal delivery, as well as their unique rhythmic melodies. On this EP, you can find some originals as well as some renditions of your favorite Christmas carols, such as Little Drummer Boy and Angels We Have Heard on High. I loved how they took these familiar carols and put their own twist on them.

My favorite song on the EP would have to be Baby Boy. This song was not shy at highlighting the center focus of this famous holiday, Jesus. It painted a vivid picture of redemption and how this whole story started with a baby boy. This song is a reminder of the war between good and bad, Jesus and Satan, which has been conquered and defeated by this same baby boy. I think during the holiday season Baby Boy is a song every family should play as a reminder of the true meaning of Christmas.

All in All, For King & Country are amazing artist and I wouldn’t expect anything but pure talent from their latest EP. If you are looking for an acoustic rock sound this season, Into the Silent Night is the EP for you.
