Philadelphia rapper Believin Stephen known for his in-depth lyricism and heartfelt material is set to release his new full-length album Battling Unbelief on July 15 on his independent label Gametime Recordings. The highly anticipated project will be his second full-length album, and fifth overall release. The first single “Don’t Be Afraid” (Battling Fear) has received an overwhelming response and has listeners excited for the album. The album features guest artist appearances from his brother Timothy Brindle, Bumps INF, Selah the Corner, Datin, Jeremiah Bligen, ThaKidd Jopp, and many more. DJ Average Joe is repsonisble for all the scratches on the album. Production credits include Grammy award winner Big Juice, Theory Hazit, Eshon Burgundy, Copywrite, Tony Stone, Average Joe and many others.

Battling Unbelief is a concept album that focuses on the struggle that goes on in everyone’s mind to either believe God’s truths or believe Satan’s lies. The past few years have been full of trials for Stephen due to broken relationships, betrayal, life’s disappointments and his own sin. This album is a reflection of the daily war that goes on inside Stephen’s head as he battles against doubt and as he fights to trust in God despite grim circumstances. He shares in a transparent manner his battles with fear, lust, pride, self-pity, envy, contentment, singleness, depression, impatience, bitterness, and more.

“I know that I am not alone in this daily pursuit, Stephen shares. “This is something every single Christian regularly deals with. In fact, I’d say this is something every unbeliever deals with as well: The fight to believe in God. It’s a battle. Each day we are going to either believe the lies the world, our flesh, and the devil tell us or we are going to believe what God tells us. We will believe the truth or believe a lie.”

This is not a project full of self-loathing or despondency. Instead, Brindle authentically shares his struggles but provides antidotes to how to fight against unbelief; namely through trusting the promises of God, casting your cares to the Lord in prayer, fellowship, and worshipping God.

Believin Stephen states, “This past year has been a hard one for me. At times I’ve questioned God and doubted his goodness. However, the whole time God has been near to me and I’ve been able to seek Him consistently in prayer. This is the realest and most practical stuff I’ve ever written. I hope it encourages people to see despite how tough this life may be, God will never leave us forsake us and he’s preparing us for a better life in heaven. “

Stylistically listeners can expect to hear growth in Stephen as an artist as he rhymes on a variety of beats and stretches himself as an emcee on Battling Unbelief by rhyming with different flows, cadences and inflections that listeners may not be accustomed to hearing from him.
